Ron Shipmon is an art collector, curator, art advisor, arts contributor, and USPAP Certified art appraiser with over three decades of expertise in the contemporary, emerging, and digital art markets amassed from working with both corporate and private clients across the US and around the globe.

For a decade, Shipmon served as curator of the GE Capital and the Financial Guaranty Insurance Company art collections. There, he provided comprehensive advice on a wide range of visual art related matters, including the contemporary and emerging art markets, market analysis, archival protocols, collection management, installation, insurance, de-accession processes, among others.

Additionally, he developed the first in-house exhibition program for the Colgate Palmolive Company, focusing on diversity.
Shipmon’s expert eye for art curation and his dealership expertise derive from his years managing three global galleries, two in London – Leinster Fine Art and Leinster Contemporary Art – and one which he founded and ran out of New York – The American Gallery.

During his four years in London, Shipmon found it increasingly obvious that there were no mainstream venues for artists of diverse backgrounds. As a result, he established The American Gallery to focus attention on artists who have been politically excluded from the mainstream art community because of their ethnic, social, or racial backgrounds. The American Gallery provided the exposure not previously afforded to these artists in the traditional venues.

Shipmon’s efforts in fighting for under-represented artists have been memorialized by a Proclamation from the Manhattan Borough President for his work in the arts community. He was further recognized for his personal and professional contributions to emerging artists by being selected as New Yorker of The Week by NY1 News. Among his other accolades is the Castillo Theatre award for enhancing artistic life in the visual arts community.
Shipmon has been profiled on CNN, CNN's Business Unusual, CNBC, and FoxNews, as well as in print publications including ArtSpeak, Brooklyn Daily, H&G Magazine, Pride Magazine, The Villager, The News & Observer, and Savoy Magazine.

As a regular guest commentator on art for WLIB Radio's Wake Up New York, he provided oral history commentary on contemporary art in New York.

His expertise has earned him status as a regular arts contributor with publications such as IN New York Magazine, Ranch & Coast Magazine, Washington Life Magazine, Treasures Magazine, Arrive Magazine, Decorating Solutions Magazine, Park Place Magazine, New Jersey Monthly, Country Decorating Magazine, Simply The Best Magazine, The Ritz Carlton Magazine, Metrosource Magazine, Savvy Insider Magazine, Where Magazine, and MAP Magazine.

Mr. Shipmon has been honored as the recipient of the NAACP’s David Weaver Prize for Excellence in the Arts in 2023, in acknowledgement of his significant global influence on the visual arts and his dedication to fostering equity and inclusion in the artistic community.
